Is Your Eye Still on the Prize?

prizeFOCUS!

Do you see it?

That goal you set earlier this year.

Is it still in your line of sight?

I have been spending quite a bit of time this week reviewing the goals that I mapped out for myself personally and professionally for 2014.

And I had a major epiphany.  I am really stinkin proud of myself in one particular area.

No, I’m not bragging, or stroking my own ego, or being arrogant!  (If you REALLY know me, you know I’m SO not like that).

Just sharing something I realized after my workout last night.

Outside of building and growing my business, one of my big goals for this year was to improve my overall fitness.

After an injury I sustained from training for a half marathon in March, I decided to just work on 1) recovering and then 2) add lean muscle and reduce my body-fat percentage (originally just to make me a better runner).

So, I started lifting weights.

It seemed literally impossible at first.  I was always a champ at cardio, but my muscles felt weak.

OH the soreness!  OH feeling like I was going to faint  /passout / die! (wait, that’s still there 🙂 LOL)

But I kept pressing forward, taking it one workout at a time.

And, I have worked out consistently 5-6 days a week for most of this year.

I have tried to eat only foods from God or close to it (unrefined, organic, gluten-free if possible).

And you know what?

I feel AMAZING.  Strong.  Confident.  Sexy.  Beautiful.

And my transformation has come SLOWLY.  And I still have a WAYS to go.

Sure I still have my “fat” days.  Or my “this isn’t working” days.

But mostly, I have my, “look at how much I can bench-press & deadlift” days!  And “wow, I am sure enjoying right where I am in this amazing journey” days.

Nothing good ever comes easy.

Maybe it’s time for you to take a pulse on the progress you have made on your goals this year.

If you didn’t have any, it’s never too late to start.

And when you do…DO NOT FORGET TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE.

You are so VERY worth it!

Much love,

Jo

Progress to date

Left is Jan 2014.  Right is last week.  ALWAYS a work in progress!!!

What defines YOU? Victory or defeat?

ballsand goals

This week my partners and I enjoyed a major victory in our business and I wanted to write about it so I never forget this moment.

Not only did we land a billion dollar firm as a new client, but we also crossed over our first major revenue milestone!

Bear in mind, this has been a long time coming.

We have had many setbacks and failures leading up to this point.

Many nights and wee hours of the morning have been spent pouring over different ideas and marketing concepts.

Yes, I admit, there have even been moments of crying on the floor in a fetal position.

But you want to know something?

Those failures and setbacks are defining moments.

They either make you, or break you.

We can choose to throw in the towel, throw our arms up, blame the economy, our geography, the market, and everything and everyone else but ourselves.

OR

We can pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try harder the next day.  And the next day.  And the day after that.  Wash, rinse repeat.

And then one day it happens!

Hours upon hours of elevator pitches, meetings, emailing, networking, calling everyone you know (and everyone you don’t know).

It happens.

Victory!!!

But I have learned something tremendously valuable that can only be learned by time in the saddle and in times where all the odds seem stacked against us.

Sometimes — those defeat times — are more important than the victories.

Why???

Those times FUEL our desire to WIN even MORE.

We won’t stop until we can scream “GOAL”!!!!!!!!!

So, celebrate wherever you are TODAY in your journey.  Trust that God has you right where He wants you.

And know that each and every day, every phone call, every meeting, every letter, every card, every brochure, flyer, document and email is equipping you to win.

This, I know.

I hope this has encouraged you in some way.

Yours so very truly,

Jo

“Word” to Your Motha

WORD to Your Motha!  ‘Word’press, that is.

This week has been an overly ridiculous learning adventure for me in the land of WORDPRESS.

Guess who??

  1. Found a hosting location for my new website
  2. Procured said hosted server location
  3. Installed the WordPress backend on the hosted server
  4. Applied my customized WordPress theme
  5. Had to have a subdomain added to my original domain so that I could keep the old site up while working on the new
  6. Purchased and installed my first plugin
  7. Built the whole thing in about 4 business days
  8. Saved my company $2-3K??

Yes, that would be me!

Oh, and do I ever feel like such a nerdy stud muffin.

I’m not quite done with the new website & I’m hoping to get it up live next week.

HOWEVER…. should you like to see my progress so far, feel free to visit the “under construction but going live very soon” website version 3.0.
